I remember the days when Ino's use to be amazingly good and to stop there was a treat. Well not anymore. I struggled with writing this review but I know how useful reviews are to me when deciding where to spend my hard earned money so the least I could do is help my fellow Yelpers out. So back to business...so as I said, I use to really enjoy Ino's. However the last time I have gotten Ino's was the PITTS.com . I got a burrito and it was mostly tortilla. The small amount of toppings that were in my burrito were mushed to the bottom and created this greasy, messy hand full of sour cream, gristle and beans in my hand (not cute). The burrito itself was tasteless. I was so freaking disappointed, I didn't even finish it. Needless to say, I won't be back.

The service is deplorable!!!!! I ordered a chimichanga. I sat in there for 30mins only for them to tell me THE OIL WAS OFF and that's only because I inquired about my food after 8 people got their food. Bad business inos, bad business.

OK...I just have to review again. We ordered again today. My honey was in the mood for his chorizo burrito from Ino's. I ordered a chile relleno....and got...yet AGAIN a chicken something. Not a relleno. I asked for posole and was told by 2 different people they didn't have it, that's fine. But...sure enough, got pozole. Ok, great! But it was in a container with 2 knife cuts in the lid & obviously warped plastic (microwaved). This place is so gross and has no pride in their food. NONE.

This is a place to go late after too many drinks. It is definitely a hole in the wall type of operation. Frankly, other than the need to balance out alcohol vs. food at a very late hour, you can do better. I've had tacos and they just seem bland, even with taco sauce added. However, they have always been fresh and hot. Also, for a long time, the eating area was super COLD. I don't men air conditioning, I mean no heat in wintry conditions (but to my surprise, yesterday, it was actually habitable).

Some of the best Mexican food around oak park. Way better then tbk or taco yo. Not the cheapest tho. I've never had something there that wasn't good

I use to be a fan as my friends and I have been eating here for over 10 years, however my last visit will definitely be my last due to food poisoning! I noticed that they do not use gloves so maybe that had something to do with it. The place has changed over the years as before when we would go there was always meat on the grill being cooked so your order was fresh. Now it seems they do a warming up of pre-cooked meat thing. This may have lead to the food poisoning as if you do not properly reheat food to a certain temperature it can become compromised. I am pretty sure that they did not leave the chorizo on the grill long enough and the steak was sitting in a huge pot on the grill I guess to keep it warm, but how long was it here?! I should have asked for my money back upon seeing this but I allowed my prevoius experiences here to cloud my judgement. Bottom line I will no longer eat here and may contact the board of health to do a check on this place!

The food used to be good around 2 1/2 year's ago but then a new cook was hired (what happened to old cook?) and he is HORRIBLE! The new cook literally messes up every order and the way he cook's the food is just disgraceful for what used to be a great place to eat! I am rating this 1 star because my order is always messed up now and the meat taste horrifying! BRING BACK THE OLD COOK OR HIRE A NEW ONE!

As a customer for years I am very disappointed with my last order, meat did not taste right, the Tostada had a soggy shell and the tacos were falling apart, the taco shell was also soggy. I think they are rushing not paying attention. This was a delivery order and it's been awhile since I ate there so not sure if there's new management. INOs take your time and check your meat and taco shells, they might have been old.

Good for what it is: good Mexican fast food, priced accordingly. Late hours, friendly service, and amusing drunks. Chicken soup is very good. Great place to go when highly depressed, for all the right reasons. This is one of Oak Park's only authentic ethnic restaurants. No frills for sure. But the food is never bad here, and always reasonable.

I've lived in the area for about 13 years and ate here 3 times. As one who's spoiled on places like La Pasadita in Chicago's Bucktown, or Don Alfredo's Carnitas in Maywood, all I can say is that this place pales in comparison. I tried giving the place a few tries, but as it is I think that there are plenty of better options in the area, Oh well. I should have checked Yelp first ;)

This place used to be my go to, late night munchie spot. But over the years the quality got worse and the staff changed, idk if its under new ownership or what. It's still decent food, I just dont know if I can eat there sober.

Baby roach was found in my friends food. Not one but a few. Enough said, don't eat here! I for one would like my food without extra living ingredients.

My favorite taco and burrito place in Illinois. They have always given large portions and they've been able to keep the prices down for years. I either get the steak tacos or a steak burrito. You just can't go wrong with either of those.

    (4)
  • Matt M.

Meh... Meh... Meh... Late night your choices are always limited no matter where in the Chicago area you are. But around Oak Park you have your hands really tied. If you want tacos this is apparently one of the only places in striking distance. But today we have a lesson learned. The tale of my burrito. My dog looked puzzled at the meat inside, she wondered why a human would stoop so low. I had to wonder myself. A couple of bites in, I answered that question for myself... "because its 4am". It was not so bad you would throw it up, but it was the quality you would not accept if even Taco Bell were open.

i have drove past this place hundreds of times and decided to finally stop in. That was a huge mistake. I ordered a coue steat tacos and a steak torta. The food just lacked any kind of flavor. The tortillas were the very cheap ones that fall apart with no flavor. The torta was very soggy and fell apart when i tried to eat it. Stay away from this place.

Stop charging sit-down customers for chips & salsa and I'll raise the review. I don't know any restaurant that does this.. and it's why we now go to Taco Yo down the street. Better food, better attitudes (for the most part), but they recognize the value of patrons who advertise by eating there. The last time we ate there (because of convenience a few months ago) I sat and waited for 2 veggie tacos to go for 30 minutes while customers who had walked in after me received their food. The cashier gave me attitude when I pointed this out & there's really noone to speak to about anything that goes wrong... Just reaffirmed why we stopped going there, which is too bad - it used to be our favorite place.

Completely awful. It took well over an hour for delivery and everything was ice cold....it must have started out hot as the food had melted the foam container and was stuck to the enchiladas....the cheese fries were just slices of american cheese laid on top of the fries. Overall, I would never order from here again.

  • Joe H.

I wouldn't recommend. There are so many other good taco joints to eat at to settle for sub par food. My partner said the tacos were good but not great. I got the ranchero burrito and it tasted really odd. The sauce was like canned tomato soup, there was lettuce inside (who puts lettuce in a burrito?) and the chicken was pretty much all dark meat (bleh!). It wasn't totally un-edible after i drenched it in some hot sauce, but I would never order it again. Also they use American cheese in there dishes. Really? You can get chihuahua cheese but if your only other choice is nasty American cheese, that should tell you how quality their food is.

Went there today after reading many posts. I'd say the service was fast, food excellent. Altho I don't like Burritos with Lettuce, I asked them to omit it, and food was served in less than 5 min. The lady there was on cue and above board. I admit, I was there at 1:30 pm, so it was not busy. I can't speak to that, however, I will go back for certain. I'm used to Burritos w/rice and refried beans, lots of cilantro, tomatoes and I like avocado in mine. I'll have to ask for that next time. I got lots of meat, some tomatoes and cilantro. Price was excellent and affordable. I found a new place for lunch !

Surprised to see the negative reviews, I had a great experience with Ino's. I'd say Ino's serves the best Mexican fast food I've had in Oak Park. At the very least I'd say it's above average. I was only picking up food, but the service I received was extremely warm and friendly. Maybe the management has changed hands, cause I got nothing but great food and friendly service at a reasonable price. I'll surely be back.

The worse tacos I ever had , this place should be closed down due to seeing rats in there kitchen when I was there yesterday , I don't see how the city does inspections and they pass when I seen a 8" rat run across the back kitchen and an employee seen it chase it with a broom without making a scene when I clearly seen it. Plus the meat they use is old meat that was sitting in there refrigerator who knows how long as well as the beans and dry ass rice, you can clearly see that they already have the meat cooked in a pan sitting there and waiting for a customer to order tacos and then they grab that meat and throw it back on the grill just to heat it up again and now since the meat has been cook already and then again , the meat is now over cooked and burnt and hard. No thank you, Zacatacos makes your tacos with fresh steak, and then when you order you. An them grab it and chop it up fresh, that's how it's suppose to be like, FRESH STEAK !!! This place shouldn't be in business , but one day someone will take a picture of that rat and then we'll see them on TV

I hate writing 1 star reviews, but after some very heavy consideration I've officially come to the conclusion that the 2 star "Meh. I've experienced better." is too kind for Ino's. Rotten food + Sh*tty 'tude = 1 MFing star. Our first mistake was coming here on recommendation from the world's worst bartender. From the looks of the place and its emptiness (besides the man and woman working behind the register) we thought this would be an a-okay spot to grab a late night quick bite before heading home- not so. The four members of my party walked in and the woman behind the counter was immediately annoyed with our presence, thinking "pinche Gringos" in her head, I'm sure. We look at the menu for all of 30 seconds and the woman behind the counter cops a major 'tude and openly rolls her eyes at us MULTIPLE times as we order. The food started to come up quickly, though it all comes at different times. My veggie taco was meh, my quesadilla (which they had initially forgotten) was one of the most awful things I've ever attempted to eat- threw it away after giving it three bites to test, and the sog city nachos were disgusting looking and tasting as well- toss 'em. My BF's burrito was the biggest I'd ever seen anywhere, which was exciting at first, but then after all the meat eating members tasted it, it was also deemed disgusting. FYI- it was made up of what they described as spoiled onions and had AMERICAN CHEESE. W.T.F*ck. Add this to the list of things that got thrown out. Worst of all, my friend's 2 tacos had a thick, black, curly hair in them. We discussed and decided that even though we generally have low food standards and lord knows I've been guilty of eating around said hairs before, this hair was over the top gross... like, the follicle root was still attached and it was so thick and curly that you wanted to immediately puke... whereas, the rest of their food only made you want to puke after you *tried to* eat it. So my friend brings the taco basket up to the counter and politely lets the 2 employees know that he doesn't want the food because it has a hair in it. The woman stares daggers into him and the man asks if he wants some more tacos WHILE SCRATCHING HIS HEAD WITH HIS BARE HANDS. My friend says no thanks (obvi) and they never offer to refund him. The whole rest of the time we were there, which wasn't much longer, the 2 counter folk gave us dirty looks and stared us down... ya know, to punish us even more so on top of the rotten food and one of their hairs falling into it. In the end only a total of 3 small veggie tacos were consumed amongst 4 adults (2 being very hungry men) and the list of things that were inedible and thrown away after 3 bites or less were: -2 slippery quesadillas -1 soggy rotten nacho plate -2 hairy tacos -1 American cheese & spoiled onion burrito PS- be prepared for a semi sleepless night after this food. It's literally so bad that it'll either keep you awake at night or give you nightmares. I'm not saying I wish bad things upon this place, as that's just not a great way to live your life, but if this place burned to the ground I might purchase some confetti in celebration. I gotta say that between the food at Ino's and the Human Centipede movie, I don't know if my appetite will ever come back again.

One of our go-to take out places in Oak Park. Make sure you call ahead; going in and waiting takes a while. But when ya get your food... Great! I love their sopes and tacos, do either with steak or pork and you'll be a happy camper. Beans are fantastic, pass on the rice though. Yummy stuff here.

I've been eating at Ino's since I began dating my now-husband in March 2009. He grew up in Forest Park and has been a fan of their bear burrito for years. The fact that my husband would take me here when he was trying to get in my pants says this place can't be THAT bad. In fact, it is my absolute favorite authentic Mexican restaurant of all time. When he lived in Oak Park, we stopped here at least once a week. I have brought six friends to this dive restaurant on multiple occasions, and none of them have been disappointed. No hairs in our food, no wrong orders; even my Mexican best friend, who is picky as all hell about what Mexican food she is willing to even try, likes to eat here. As far as the staff is concerned, I've never had a problem. The other reviewers that find the staff rude cannot possibly be talking about the regular 9am-5pm counter girl because she always smiles at me and even has my order memorized: A three ground beef taco dinner. Yes, I am a small early 20-something year old female, and I devour that 1500 calorie meal every time. Did I mention I also load up on chips and their delicious pico beforehand? If you find yourself wandering around the south end of Oak Park, give Ino's a try. They're open late (til 4 am), so if you can't stand drunk, messy college students get your order to go.

This place has the best pico de gallo in chicago. The food is good, I mean we pretty much only ate there while drunk...you really get your moneys worth the burritos are huge. But, the pico de gallo is to die for. We have it every sunday at our family dinner. It is kind of pricey for the large container but it is worth it.

Pico de Gallo (amazing) Horchata (also Amazing) Steak Tacos with cilatro and onion (tortillas were stale once and had fatty chopped meat inside Mole" enchiladas with chicken dinner (The rice burned the styrophome plate so i got scared of eating the toxic steam that might of filtered through the rice.and The mole" sauce was more of a paste but it came with sourcream and fresh tomatoes and lettuce) burritos (the best when they make them well done so ask for the shell to be browned.)

So I am not a huge fan of Mexican food so I cannot say too much about their menu but I do love their steak mini tacos. They are very tasty, very cheap and the best part is I can get them at 3AM! The hot sauces they offer are very tasty as well and I always ask for more to save for other dishes I have in the future. I hate waiting (they are often packed even at 3AM) so I phone in my order ahead of time and it's 99% ready when I get there. My brother, bf and pals rant and rave about the burritos, tortas and again the tasty tacos. This may not be the best taco joint in the area but the fact that its open from 9AM to 4AM Saturday & Sunday makes it my favorite one in the area!

I work near here every once in a while and found this place using google's things near me. The main criteria has to be able to substitute items on the menu for vegetarians and have decent reviews. After reading some reviews, I decided the food should be good. I ordered the Veggie Burrito and they gave me chips and salsa since I ate inside. The chips were ok, but the salsa wasn't good. It was too watery and had a salty taste instead of having a spice kick. The burrito was dry and kept getting the tortilla. The rice inside wasn't tasty either. I tried dousing the burrito in their green and red sauce at different times, but the red sauce had a funny flavor that I wasn't keen on and the green wasn't too flavorful. The place itself isn't the best. But I knew going in that its just a dive. Which would totally be fine if my burrito tasted at least average to what I had in the past. A side point, they have a small white metal table in the front, between the window and the parking space. That's the outside seating. Also, make sure you have cash. I didn't see an ATM there either. They take credit cards, but if the order is less than $10, they impose a $1 charge for using a credit card. I don't like making judgments on the first go, but I won't be here again for a few months. I'll give it one more chance, perhaps get some veggie tacos or tostadas and see how they stack up to other better mexican joints. If the experience is any different, I'll change my rating here.

my friend and i had a quick dinner there & our food was pretty good. we both really liked the salsa that came with the chips. it was fresh pico de gallo. yummmmmy! the best part was our dessert cuz they had soft serve ice cream! woooo hoooo!

I have been to Ino's a few times over the years with mixed experiences. For the most part Ino's has decent food although the service can vary. I ordered carryout there today and was met with pleasant service. They would not accept credit cards for payment though and when i got home I found they put two extra ingedients in my burrito that I had not asked for. Ino's is a solid choice for inexpensive mexican food if you live in the area and do not wish to travel far or if its closing time at the local tavern and your looking for a late night burrito fix.

  • Christina R.

Holy crap this is some bad food, and bad service. Seriously, don't go here. I just threw out the last half of the worst taco I've ever had the misfortune of eating. I'm gonna go so far as to say the Bell is better than this mess. And don't dare ask for extra sauce, that'll really set 'em off. Either head southwest to burritoville or southeast to Mr. Taco but do not go here.

  • Jeff K.

Well, I've tasted much better. Ordered the chicken enchilada suiza and 2 steak taco dinner. The enchillada meat was absolutely the worst chicken. The meat was overcooked and tasted very old. The suiza red sauce and cheese were terrific. The taco were ok aside from the gristle and fat. The beans and rice were bland and flavorless. Real mexican rice and beans are delicious and flavorful. This is hardly the real Mexican food you would get in Mexico.

Inos is a great late night eatery. I have gone for lunch in the afternoon, but its enjoyed best after a night out. Maybe it just tastes better after a few beers or cocktails, i dont know. Everything ive ever had was great. I tend to order the veggie burrito. Im not a vegetarian, but this thing is delicious. Rice, beens, guac, sour cream, lettuce, tomato. yummy. Its phenom. Yes, Inos is disgusting inside. Its dirty, greasy, nasty, whatever you want to call it. Who cares, the food is top notch. Im not eating off the floor or in the bathroom, so i never complain about it. I suggest eating in. Many yelpers say its too filthy inside.... Have a few drinks and you wont even think about it. Plus, they give you pico de gallo and chips if you eat in, and their pico is to die for. I dont know why its so good, it just is. Put some of that on your taco or burrito, omfg. I would also suggest a chorizo quesadilla and the pork tacos. pork taco with cilantro and onion.. man. i might go tonight. The chorizo is terribly greasy. i mean, id let it sit and allow the fat to drip out for a few minutes. I have grown to love barbacoa tacos due to my living in such close proximity to la pasadita in the city, but tis not the greatest here. Im sure you have experienced this.. some mexican places have different highlights. Inos has their pork tacos, chorizo anything and veggie burritos. No shortages of great food. Give it a shot sometime. Very cheap. And be sure to leave time for a siesta after eating. Also, the staff is very friendly. Yeah, maybe i cant have a conversation with them due to the language barrier (even after a few years of taking spanish), but they will put a smile on if you give one first.

Eeekkkk its a home of the wooly mammoth! maybe I'm exaggerating a touch but one hair in your food might as well be 10,000. A bad attitude adds to the size of the hair too. I'm gonna make this short and sweet since I hate to spend much of my valuable time on this poop shoot. I went here with the bf,bff and bffs bf. We recieved a heaping pile of attitude the minute we entered, ordered, Bf got a hair in his nasty food and showed it to the man behind the counter and he scratched his head and asked if he wanted anymore! The snatched the basket of tacos away and didnt offer a refund or even a mere appology. The rest of us lost our appetite quickly after the hair and the horrible look and taste of the food. I dont care how drunk you are I wouldnt enter this angry, dirty joint

I used to come here before Taco Yo, right down the street opened up. The food is always fine -- but hands down the rudest service I have ever experienced. I would take friends here regularly, as it was the only Mexican joint in the area -- I WAS EMBARRASSED WITH THE SERVICE EVERY TIME. The lady behind the counter is always annoyed with your presence, she has a junky attitude as your order. The last straw was when I ordered food for 5 people, we all were eating-in. Everyone got their meal except the 1 person waiting for a burrito (receipt showed we paid) - after 10 minutes we walked up to the counter requesting an update and the lady behind the counter argued with us that we already received and at the burrito. She insisted that we needed to pay again - we drove to McDonald's and bought him a burger. Never going back again. I am mad again just writing about this.

Meh... Meh...

I am mad again just writing about this.

i have drove past this place hundreds of times and decided to finally stop in.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
